Golden era of Punjabi Music Industry- Revive the Period of Punjabi legends



Punjabi Music Industry is not new and same with songs. No one knows the origin of the Punjabi song. Earlier Punjabi Folk songs were in great trend and were sung by every singer. With the advent of time, Punjabi Music Industry has grown and many singers have also come up. But not everyone can become the legends. Here we present to you the list of some great Punjabi legends that will remain in our heart forever and their voice will leave us spellbound.

Gurdas Maan

Gurdas Maan is a renowned personality of Punjab and one of the favorite singers of every generation. He is not only singer but also a good actor, songwriter and choreographer. He was born on 4th January, 1957 in Giddarbaha and did 38 albums and 32 movies from 1980 till now. His songs are loved by every generation. His song Challa is one of the best songs which are liked by everyone till now. 


  Hans Raj Hans

Hans Raj Hans is a Punjabi Singer and politician from Punjab. He is famous for classical variation in songs. He was born on 9th April, 1964 Jalandhar, Punjab. He did 51 albums and 1 movie from 1983 till now. He sings Punjab Folk and Punjabi sufi. He has worked along with legendary singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in album Kachche Dhaage. His is blessed with beautiful variations in his voice. 

Kuldeep Manak

Kuldeep Manak was one of the famous Punjabi Singer. He was known as Badshah of Kaliyan. He was born on 15th November, 1951 in Jalal, Bathinda Punjab and died on 30th November, 2011 in Ludhiana, Punjab. Legendary Kuldeep Manak was not only singer but also an actor, musician and composer. He was born as Latif Mahommad but later CM Sardar Partap Singh Kehron penned down his name as Kuldeep Manak after being mesmerized with his voice in the award distribution function in school.

Surinder Kaur


Surinder Kaur was one of the Punjabi legendary singers. She was also known as cuckoo of Punjab. She is famous for Punjabi Folk songs and was born on 25th November, 1929 in Lahore, British India, died on 14th June, 2006 New Jersey, United States. She was the sister of Parkash Kaur, both were noted Punjabi singers. She was awarded as Punjabi Millennium Singer and was also awarded Padma Shree for contribution in Arts.
  
Alam Lohar


Alam Lohar was one of the Punjabi Legendary Singers of the Punjabi Industry. He was famous for Folk songs with his instrument Tumbi. He was also musician and poet. He was born in 1928 Lalamusa, Punjab, British India and died on 3rd July, 1979 Sham Ki Bhattian, Punjab Pakistan. He  died in an accident in collision where heavily loaded truck tried to overtake his card but failed to do and met with accident. After his sudden unexpected death, Pakistani government rewarded him highest civil award for arts and theatre the Pride of Performance Award in the same year. Many legendary singers expressed grief on his death.


Besides above there are many other Punjabi legend singers such as Narinder Biba, Sukhwinder Panchhi, Amar Singh Chamkila, Didar Sandhu, Lal Chand Yamla Jatt, Surjit Bindarakhiya, Harbhajan Maan, Babbu Mann.  Apart from them, Amrinder gill and Prabh gill are new singers in the list who amaze the listeners with their voices.
