Lipstick under my Burkha
The film was in controversies prior to its release. The censor board had decided not to give green signal due to its bold content but later on got ‘A’ certificate from Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT). Nihalani in an interview had told that the story of movie is lady oriented who talks about their fantasy. There are many sexual scenes, audio pornography, abusive words and sensitive touch about particular section of society which was the main reason of refusal. But the film was released on 21st July, 2017.
Salman Khan misquoted
During the promotion of Tubelight, Salman Khan was asked about the opinion on War as his film has scene of Indo-China war. His answer created unnecessary new controversy for him. He was smashed for a statement which was misinterpreted and linked to the current tension between Indo-Pak.
He simply said that, “People who order war should be asked to go to war themselves. Take this gun and go to war. (They will realise it) and it will get over in a day. They will tremble and shake and they will eventually take the route of dialogues and discussions. “Haath pair kaapne lagg jaayenge. Ek hi din mein war khatam ho jaaega. Iske baad table ke saamne baith kar baatcheet hogi”.
Attack on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati set
Whole industry was shocked with the incident when Sanjay Leela Bhansali was slapped and attacked by local people during the shoot of upcoming film ‘Padmavati’. He was shooting in Rajasthan for an important scene at that time. It is said that the reason behind incident was the rumor of intimate dream scene between Alauddin Khilji played by Ranveer Singh and Padmavati played by Deepika Padukone. People said that the film represents Queen Padmavati in bad context. This did not stop here only, in fact a huge set was burnt in Kolhapur in March this year.
Diljit Dosanjh for winning Filmfare debutant Award
Chocolate boy of Punjabi industry Diljit Dosanjh started his Bollywood debut with Udta Punjab and received the Filmfare debutant Award. Anil Kapoor’s son Harshvardhan Kapoor was not happy and he tweeted with question how Diljit is a debutant as he is already a star in Punjab. But later on Harsh apologised to Diljit, but his childish behavior was criticized by the people.
Sonu Nigam on Azaan
Sonu Nigam’s comments on twitter became the sensational news of India when he tweeted, “God bless everyone. I am not a muslim and I have to be woken up the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India?” The statement led to intolerance debate. Fatwa was issued against him in this context but shaved his head in response. He then made it clear that he was not targeting any particular religion and his perspective was strictly personal.
